Li-Fi : Generating A Bright Future

Have you ever heard of any technology named Li-Fi???

And I knew that some of you know about it but some didn't...

Li-Fi internet access can deliver 100 times faster than traditional wireless, offering speeds of up to 1 Gbps(gigabyte per second)

It requires a light source, LED such as a standard bulb, an internet connection and a photo detector.

One of the big advantages of LiFi is that unlike wifi, it does not interfere with other wireless signals, so could be utilized on aircraft and in other places where interference is an issue.

This technology uses visible light Communication to use visible light medium between 400 and 800 terahertz.

Visible light communications (VLC) works by switching the current to the LEDs off and on at a very high rate, too quick to be noticed by the human eye. Although Li-Fi LEDs would have to be kept on to transmit data, they could be dimmed to below human visibility while still emitting enough light to carry data. The light waves cannot penetrate walls which makes a much shorter range, though more secure from hacking, relative to Wi-Fi. Direct line of sight is not necessary for Li-Fi to transmit a signal; light reflected off the walls can achieve 70 Mbit/s.

Since light does not passes the wall, you do not have to worry about hacking of your internet connection by any other Guy...

DURUS : Walks like a human

A bipedal robot can now put its best foot forward, stepping with a heel-toe motion that copies human locomotion more closely than flat-footed robot walkers can.

By rocking its "feet" forward from the heel and pushing off at the toe, the DURUS robot closely imitates the walking motion of people, making it more energy-efficient and better at navigating uneven terrain, according to Christian Hubicki, a postdoctoral fellow in robotics at the Georgia Institute of Technology and one of the researchers who helped DURUS find its footing.

The humanoid robot DURUS was designed collaboratively by the research nonprofit SRI International and Georgia Tech's Advanced Mechanical Bipedal Experimental Robotics (AMBER) Lab. An earlier DURUS design was modified to accommodate the new manner of walking, enabled by a novel mathematical algorithm that adjusts the robot's momentum and balance, one step at a time.

Noise U8 Smartwatch

The U8 is a Bluetooth Smartwatch that comes with a built in mic and speaker. The watch looks really good.  The U8 watch is available in 3 different colours.

The U8 looks like a premium watch. It is enclosed in a glossy body with a silver base. The body is made up of plastic and the straps are made of good quality soft rubber; they blend well with the glossy body.

There are 3 touch buttons on the front. Overall look wise the watch is pretty impressive. There is a power button on the right side and micro USB port plus speaker out vent and a mic on the right side. Battery of 230 mAh comes built in. Watch is light weight at 44 grams and is 9.79mm thick.

It sports a 1.48 inch screen with 128 x 128 pixels resolution. Touch response however is smooth. This smartwatch supports Bluetooth 3.0 and comes with 230 mAh battery. The battery backup is good; will last for almost a day. There is 64MB of internal storage and that is used by the system, so in general you need a smartphone.

You can use the U8 to dial a number, make or receive calls without touching the phone. There is pedometer to monitor your steps, barometer and altimeter (measure the altitude).

The speaker volume is okay but it vibrates. You can play music on the phone and control it using the watch. You can also control the smartphone camera.

Atlas : bipedal humanoid Robot

Hello Friends,

I am introducing you to that metal piece which is the spectacular creation of the Robotics technology. 

Atlas is a bipedal humanoid robot primarily developed by the American robotics company Boston Dynamics, with funding and oversight from the United States Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency(DARPA). The 1.8-meter (6 ft) robot is designed for a variety of search and rescue tasks, and was unveiled to the public on July 11, 2013.

A new version of Atlas, designed to operate outdoors and inside buildings. It is specialized 

for mobile manipulation. It is electrically powered and hydraulically actuated. It uses sensors in its body and legs to balance and LIDAR and stereo sensors in its head to avoid obstacles, assess the terrain, help with navigation and manipulate objects. This version of Atlas is about 5' 9" tall (about a head shorter than the DRC Atlas) and weighs 180 lbs.

A pizza delivery Robot: DRU

Can you ever imagine that on your pizza delivery you will recieve a highly developed tin box which is a wonderful creation of today's robotics technology holding pizza in its hand???

Then ready to boost up your excitement level because this imagination has been turned into reality by Domino's Robotics Unit or DRU. 

Thanks to Domino’s Robotic Unit or DRU, that this imagination just became a reality! On March 8, the three-feet tall robot delivered its first pizza to some lucky residents in Brisbane, Australia.

This auto-bot is result of collaboration between DRU and Sydney based StartUp Marathon Robotics. 

The 450-pound machine that travels at a maximum speed of 12.4 miles an hour cantraverse a distance of up to 12-miles and back, before requiring a battery recharge. LIDAR, a laser-based sensor technology similar to the one used in self-driving cars, enables DRU to detect and avoid obstacle, while traditional sensors, much like those used in vacuum robots ensure its path is safe as it  heads to its destination.

According to latest technological news in the field of  Robotics, we can say that technology in this field is taking so exciting turns that is beyond our imagination...

With the help of X-ray videos, scientists have developed a new robot that mimics the way salamanders walk and swim.

The salamander-inspired robot could also one day be used for search-and-rescue missions or inspection operations, the scientists added.

In general, scientists are creating these types of robots for investigation in dangerous places where there might be a risk of human lives. This is One of the benefits of using robots because this reduces the loss of human lives and decrease there chance of having interaction with new bacteria or viruses.

Introducing SpotMini : A mini version of Spot

Have you heard of Spot Robot a four legged bot which is designed for indoor and outdoor operations.

Now the amazing thing is that a mini version of that robot has been introduced.

The name of that Robot is "SpotMini" .  


SpotMini is a new smaller version of the Spot robot, weighing 55 lbs dripping wet (65 lbs if you include its arm.) SpotMini is all-electric (no hydraulics) and runs for about 90 minutes on a charge, depending on what it is doing.
It has a variety of sensors, including depth cameras, a solid state gyro (IMU) and proprioception sensors in the limbs. 
These sensors help with navigation and mobile manipulation. SpotMini performs some tasks autonomously, but often uses a human for high-level guidance.
